Christoph Erdmenger

Head of Division Sustainable Mobility, Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg

After having studied geoecology and several semesters of economics at the University of Karlsruhe, Erdmenger has taken up an employment as environmental scientist at the city network ICLEI in 1996. From 2000 onwards, he attended to the establishment of the section “eco-efficient management” with an emphasis on environment-friendly procurement. In addition, he developed the Procura+ campaign for sustainable procurement. After that, he worked at the German Environment Agency from 2004 to 2008 as Head of Section “Sustainable Energy Supply” and was significantly involved in 2007 in elaborating the strategy for reducing CO2 emissions by 40 % until 2020 in Germany. In his role as Head of Department “Sustainable Mobility” in the Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg, he is since 2013 in charge for inter alia electric mobility, climate protection in the transport sector, air pollution control and digitalisation..
